Skümback / Superdong

Biography : 

Superdong started in late 80's in Luleå, Sweden. At the beginning the band is called Skümback. Under this name they released 2 demo tapes. In 1992 they changed their name to Superdong. I don't know exactly what they released under the name of Superdong, maybe one or two demo tapes, and they appeared on compilations Really Fast Vol. 7, Salmons Of Hort and Birdnest for 10 Marks. In 1993 the band split and half of the members starts the band Fireside while the other half starts the band Breach

Stealth

Biography : 

Stealth started in early 90's at that time when skatepunk started to be popular in Sweden with the emergence of bands like Millencolin, Satanic Surfers and Randy. Bröol records, a small and young label wanted to make its place in this musical style and after releasing first Venerea album and putting out some comps, they released the Stealth minialbum A Teenage Revolt. 5 skatepunk songs with the swedish flavor, similar to the bands mentioned above.

Mindless

Biography : 

Mindless was a 5-piece skatepunk band from Sweden. They released 2 EPs on their own. They are similar to old Millencolin, Jeff Inc., Useless, One Chord Wonders.

Skanker

Biography : 

Skanker was a ska/punk band from Sweden that started in 1994. They released an EP on the defunct label Futon Records.

Böld

Biography : 

Böld was a trallpunk/skatepunk band from Rörvik, Sweden. They started in 1994 and after releasing some demotapes they started the label Sigourney Records where they put out 3 albums as well as releasing stuff from other swedish melodic punk bands.

Random

Biography : 

Random was a three piece swedish skatepunk band in the vein of Millencolin, Adhesive, Stoned. They were from Växjö and they released a demotape in 1996. This is the only infos I have about this band.

Stoned

Biography : 

Stoned started in 1993 in Karlstad, Sweden as a five-piece band. At the beginning the band was Andreas, Magnus, Zenga (Henrik), Bosse and Böb. I don't know exactly who was Böb, but he played drums on the demotape that Stoned recorded in 1993. He was soon replaced by Henric and this lineup lasted until the end of the band. Stoned was one of the leading melodic punk / skatepunk act of Sweden. Very soon after their formation they were signed to Ampersand Records where they released their first MiniAlbum Partysongs in 1994 as well as all the rest of their discography. Even if they never got as big as Millencolin the band toured internationally several times and released four studio albums that today are classics of the skatepunk scene of Sweden. For a long time after their last release it wasn't too clear if Stoned was still alive. Some years ago some fans discovered that the band was in preparation of another album but their label Ampersand disbanded so the project died too.

Tiny Shoes

Biography : 

Tiny Shoes was a skatepunk band from Haninge, Sweden. They started in 1998, and they released 2 home made CDs. They recorded an EP in 2001 but this album was never released. The band called it quits the same year. They were influenced by the californian scene by bands like Bad Religion and NOFX and bands from Sweden like Millencolin and Satanic Surfers. After the end of Tiny Shoes, the members were involved in many other musical projects. Johan started to play in the poppunk/skatepunk Cornfed later called My Fellow Americans. He also played in a straight edge hardcore band called Award. In 2005 he joined the screamo/hardcore band 36 Seconds Of Hapiness and also played for an emo/rock band Promise Divine. Lately from 2012 to 2014 Johan also played drums for a post-punk/indie band called It For us. The other Tiny Shoes members played together in an indierock band called The Weather. Johan and Mattias participated together in an alt-country project called The Big Picture. Mattias played in a band called The Gentlemen Racer and finally Johan and Tomas played together in an emoish project called Ithaca Airplane.

Falling To Pieces

Biography: 
Falling To Pieces was a melodic punk band from Nykoping, Sweden. The band was active in the 90's and released a demo tape in 1995 then were signed to the punk/hardcore label Futon Records where they released 2 albums on CD.

Cascade

Biography : 
Cascade was a skatepunk band from Sweden that started in early 90's. During their history the band shared stage with many bands from around Sweden. They released 2 demo tapes and one demo CD, and they appeared on many compilations. The band will stop activities around 2005.

Avoided

Biography : 
Avoided started out in 1995 in the small swedish westcoast-town called Falkenberg. The band released two records and toured three times over Europe and three weeks in Canada. In 2004 the band split up.

Overstrung

Robert -Okay, the year was 1996. My friend Mikko had just bought his first electric guitar. So I went over to his place, cause he was very good on the guitar, and I wanted to hear his stuff.   Mikko played some NOFX songs, and I was stoked. That was when I got the idea to start a punk band. But instead of telling him about it, I went home and wrote some crappy lyrics. The next day I showed them to him, and told about my plan. He agreed that it was a cool idea.   At that time I had never played bass. So I had to buy one, and start learning from there. The same thing went for our first drummer. He sucked just like I did. We managed to come up with some songs, under the name CornFake, before he quit the band.  Two years went by, and the two of us had been making songs without an ordinary drummer. That was when we came in contact with Marcin. He was up for the job, and we changed our name to Overstrung.  Back then Mikko used to be the lead singer, but we really needed someone better. That was when Adam came into the picture. You could say he was the missing link, cause that was also when Overstrung took a change for the better... And now we're just looking forward.

Moozed

I think most of the people remember this swedish band from the song they did on Epitone vol. 3. Finding infos about them and especially their tape is quite an hard job. They wrote some lines on their myspace profile, letting us know that they were from Västerbotten län and that they exsited from 1993 to 1996, when the members were all in high school. For me this band was really good, they have that old swedish punk feeling and their melodies were amazing.

Sofistikerat Svammel



Sofistikerat Svammel was a Trallpunk band from Skellefteå, Sweden. Just like their friends Skumdum, they recorded some songs that are technical and fast. If you like the Skumdum - S/T CD you must check this band. They unfortunately had a very short run between 1994 and 1996 but during these years they recorded 3 demos and participated to many shows.

Fence 52

The history of Fence 52 start in 1999, when 3 members of the skatepunk band Scorch decide to start a new band. At the beginning the band is called Fence, but soon after they added the number 52. They complete the band with one of their friend and start to play music, at the very beginning they were supposed to do Foo-Fighter's similar stuff, but they change quickly to some Pennywise songs and start to listen to more and more skatepunk bands, which will influence their style as they continue to evolve as a band. After a few shitty demos and member changes, the band finally record a 3-song demo in 2000 that is sounding pretty good. Those same 3 songs will also appear on a split tape with the band Scorch. Fence 52 will continue making gigs and improving their skills, while recordind some demos. Their final release will be a split with AGNFAB and Skumdum, and the band will disband not long after. 2 members will then start another skatepunk band, Steamboat Rally.

Bowser



First, lets clarify some things about Bowser. This band started somewhere around 1995 and have recorded 3 tapes and 4 CDs. The only record to have been released on a label is the Self-Titled under Monster/Reprisal Records. All the rest was DIY stuff, CD-Rs, self-made demotapes, etc and some of them were never released.

As far as I know, the following was physically released : Opinion (tape), Bowser vs. NOFX (tape), One Happy Family CD, Bowser CD-R and Bowser CD on Monster/Reprisal Records. The Bowser CD was first released on Monster Records in 2001, then re-released on Reprisal Records in 2002. Also, many people know the Bowser CD-R (the 4-tracks one) under the name Skate And Die, but this title never existed. You can see a pic of the CD-R : HERE! So, 3 of the 4 CDs were released, what leave I Hate The Mainstream Shit only a 3-song demo that were sent to mp3.com for download-only.

Now about the tapes... even if it was their first recording, Manga Girl was stuffed with amazing songs, but it was never released because right after the recording some members left the band. They reformed some months later and started to record again with a new vocalist. 2 of the 5 songs on Manga Girl were re-recorded, and some physical Opinion demo-tape copies were successfully made. One thing to know about Manga Girl is that it was a 5-song tape and it has nothing to do with that fake 8-song that is circulating over the web, this is not even the same singer... As for the Bowser vs. NOFX, this is more a joke than a real recording. It sound really shitty and was recorded in a couple of hours, and they play 5 NOFX songs and only 2 of their own songs. Only 7 copies or so were made.

Bowser was playing a fast and very melodic punk similar to Swedish legends like Millencolin, Adhesive and Satanic Surfers, but without copying any of them. They had their own sound and it was fast, melodic, catchy, seriously some of the best skatepunk songs ever made in my opinion. There has been many lineup changes in the band. The only member to have been there from the beginning to the end is Tony Graf. They disbanded in 2003 and some members started When We Fall, an hardcore band. Håkan Ljunggren now play skatepunk in Steve And The Alcoholics
